When these happen, once in a while it is feasible for the recollections to be covered up in the oblivious as the brain will in general square frightening scenes of misuse or the entire of youth and reemerge later in adulthood. The nature of these recollections vary from one individual to the next, where they can be nitty gritty and distinctive or exceptionally black out at times and generally recount occasions happening in youth or youthfulness. Now and again, these recollections are thought not to be genuine yet only a memory of the things said by others. Recuperated Memory Therapy (RMT), which was at first utilized, has been found to need legitimate legitimacy and is in this manner named as harmful treatment (Robinson, 2008). The accompanying paper will talk about bogus memory comparable to ongoing exploration performed concerning it. Bogus Memory One of the most unpleasant mental encounters is constraint which happens when the brain pushes stunning experience to an unavailable oblivious position. On occasion, anyway this may later reoccur into cognizance as a condition alluded to as bogus memory disorder which is characterized as the memory of an envisioned occasion regularly horrendous and beforehand happening (Stedmans clinical word reference, 2006). Bogus recollections happen as a result of the psychological framework working in the push to escape from mindfulness. A genuine model is the event of certain recollections of youth sexual maltreatment after constraint for around 20 to 40 years which prompted suing of supposed culprits who were predominantly relatives and family laborers (Loftus, 1993). We will compose a custom paper test on Memory Reconstruction and False Memories explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom article test on Memory Reconstruction and False Memories explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom exposition test on Memory Reconstruction and False Memories explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer Despite the fact that the genuineness of relapsed memory is addressed, the subtleties and certainty regularly connected with it structure the premise of analysis and is utilized in an expanding number of common claims. This is on the grounds that adolescence is a significant idea of therapy as it is the phase of connection and structures a model that sets an enthusiastic phase of later connections (Braun, Ellis, Loftus, 2002). Moreover, the side effects related, for example, exacted injury likewise include as proof. Through guiding and restorative intercession, regularly the recollections reemerge when the casualties enter psychotherapy because of different related components. In these conditions the advisors use RMT to recoup recollections that include different memories of genuine occasions which occurred during youth. It depends on the conviction awful recollections like sexual maltreatment in adolescence are overlooked or curbed and recouped during treatment (Robinson, 2008). From these clinical focuses it was noticed that restraint comprised overpowering and evident verification thus precise. Be that as it may, some psychiatrics debate these speculations naming them as observational and need trial logical affirmation. A few debates additionally emerge when blamed deny the charges by the grown-ups bringing about the scrutinizing about who is coming clean and who is lying (Loftus, 1993). Age of False Memory The precision of these recollections may be hinder red by inside inferred protection system, for example, dream, deceptions, and screen recollections that are interceded by mental trips, obtained thoughts, characters and fantasies or remotely got from a therapist’s or exceptional relation’s accidental proposal implantation. Additionally, mainstream works which impact the formation of recollections through the means they give and proposals of a specialist, who on occasion don't take no for an answer and use dreams, regularly lead to the production of postulations recollections. Furthermore, they consideration old enough relapse, guided representation, writing in stupor, body work and trance and the way that treatment happens in private makes it hard to follow what happens (Loftus E. , 1995). This is delineated in an examination led by Loftus and Pickrell, (Macrae et. al. , 2002 ) where most members were convinced by their recommendations and empowered on having done a specific thing in their youth, for example, becoming mixed up in a mall and being safeguarded by a matured individual. The greater part of the individuals at that point expounded and delivered proof on these bogus encounters exceptionally, therefore making options in contrast to the real world. Such occasions incorporate memory of non existent items or very surprising circumstances. Advertisers, through publicizing can likewise cause the formation of such recollections by exploiting the memory’s reconstructive nature (Robinson, 2008). Along these lines, a customer may imagine that he has partaken in an occasion though they just saw an advert of the occasion (Macrae et. al. , 2002 ). Because of the effect of bogus recollections particularly when utilized in courts, various examinations have been finished concerning formation of bogus memory through introduction to deception which makes bending the memory. These confirmations have been given by private specialists that go covert into workplaces of advisors professing to be patients. Albeit every single recouped memory may not be bona fide, it isn't consistent with state that they are generally bogus. As indicated by new research, recuperated memory is an exceptionally phenomenal condition which should possibly be accepted if clear proof is introduced. Scientists contend that the vast majority of them are not identified with genuine occasions. For the most part, it is accepted that recollections of events before the age of 2 years can't be recouped as they can't be recalled into adulthood while those beneath the age of three years are remarkable and problematic. Along these lines, cases of certain grown-ups about events identified with maltreatment underneath the age of a half year are completely unwarranted henceforth bogus memory. It has likewise been found that individuals who experience maltreatment after the ages of four or five once in a while overlook them. Moreover, contemplates performed on individuals who have endured horrendous youth misuse, for example, grabbing and viewing their parents’ slaughtering mirror their longing to overlook them without progress as contradicted relapse (Braun, Ellis, Loftus, 2002). End The exhibition of problematic and trial RMT on customers prompted various decimated families which were never recuperated consequently a great deal of human affliction and preventable self destruction which could have been stayed away from through appropriate and cautious structure of pitched examinations. It has since been deserted by advisors and specialists. Furthermore more proof ought to be given in instances of memory restraint to forestall bogus cases. Rundown of References Braun, K. Movie Marathon, Pt. I

Movie Marathon, Pt. I Ah, readers, we meet again. Im sorry its been a while. Much as changed since our last exchange (the way I begin blog posts has obviously not. Oops.) I finished my last MIT classes, I ate my last meal in the Simmons dining hall, I graduate in about a week! But we will not talk about that right now (read: I will not get sentimental about that right now). Instead, lets talk about all the movies Ive been watching since finals week ended! See, I love movies. Funny movies, serious movies, foreign movies, mindless/escapist movies, deep meditations on the human condition movies, indie movies, blockbuster movies, I LOVE EM ALL! I have never seen a movie involving time travel that I did not like.  I can truthfully make that statement because I have never seen Hot Tub Time Machine. I do love the Back to the Future trilogy, Primer (best, best, BEST movie about time travel ever made; its one of my favorite movies of all time haha, see what I did there? I should stop.), Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure, Looper, Safety Not Guaranteed, Midnight in Paris. But I digress! The point of this paragraph is that I havent had a lot of time to watch a lot of the movies Ive been wanting to see (or havent had the occasion to view them). UNTIL NOW. Thats right, Im farting around until graduation (which, remember, we will not talk about right now) so that means I have both the TIME to watch movies AND constant access to friends who I can coerce into watching movies with me because I know they have no excuses! (Ive also realized that there is a Spongebob gif for almost every occassion in life.) This was the list of movies I compiled: Another Earth Of Gods and Men A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints Gattaca Never Let Me Go Adam (the 2009 one with Hugh Dancy) Winters Bone True Grit Promised Land (ehh I know, I know, I know its going to be terrible but I saw We Bought A Zoo so how much lower can Matt Damon sink??) The Breakfast Club (Im ashamed, leave me alone) Inception (Im ashamed, leave me alone) Departures (the 2008 Japanese film) Poetry (the 2010 Korean film) The Giant Mechanical Man Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (I feel like I wouldnt be allowed to graduate from MIT without seeing these.) Friends With Kids Iron Man 3 (I missed the premere that the Class of 2013 saw because I had symphony rehearsal) Star Trek: Into Darkness The Place Beyond the Pines And this is Part I of how my fellow film-viewers and I felt about some of these movies. Ready or not, here come the reviews! Movie: Gattaca Elizabeth-digest version: Its the future where genetic screening (especially before birth) leads to the phenomenon of genoism, or the discrimination of the genetically inferior (anyone with a disposition to health problems as predicted by their genome). The main character wants nothing more than to be an astronaut, but hes unable to due to his inferior genes. So he steals another dudes genetic identity! Panel reaction: Roy on plot: The whole Im undah covah! They gon find me! is a pretty thrilling premise BUT the rest of it is kinda..eh. Apocalypse Now is better and longer. Roy on the musical score: They overused the theme. Everything involving water, looking at the stars, every quiet moment Sayeed on film construction: I didnt get it.  (To be fair, he started watching after we had gotten through over half of it.) Me: Ehhhhhhhhhhprettygood? A lot of folks hyped this movie up, so perhaps that contributed to my slight disappointment over it. I loved the premise and it made me really happy that its an original script. I like that it gets you to think about what constitutes the value of a human being and the consequences of biotechnology. But as a bioengineer, some of the science they incorporated and the way they address some of the technology drove me absolutely NUTS. (#MIT) Sorry Im being super vague I dont think I could actually articulate the details without giving away a lot of the movie. Should you watch it? Yes. And then you should become civically responsible scientists. Movie: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Elizabeth-digest version: Frodo and Sam continue to try to destroy The Ring (but dont), Aragorn and pals continue to fend off all the crap thats preventing Frodo and Sam from destroying The Ring, we get introduced to Treebeard. Panel reaction: Maita LOVES LOTR. Shes your go-to person if you want to know anything about anything when it comes to Tolkien. In fact, shes the one that finally convinced me to see the movies. We watched Fellowship a couple weeks ago, and it was only right to finish off the trilogy before we parted ways. Two Towers is her least favorite movie of the three, but she still loves it! Roy also LOVES LOTR. You can probably tell that he was pretty pumped about it. Two Towers is his favorite of the three. I thought Two Towers was better than Fellowship (12 was what I was trying to convey in that picture). Keri told me last night that a movie can seem pretty awesome, but if you promptly forget about it or stop thinking about it right after you see it, then it probably wasnt that great to you. I guess thats how I feel about LOTR, and I feel really bad that I dont absolutely love it, butI just dont. I dont dislike it, and I totally respect and even understand why so many others are so obsessed with it, but I cant remember ANYTHING that happened and I saw this movie three days ago. I like that the film seemed like it was a labor of love from the filmmakers. I love the cinematography and the score is amazing. Amazing! And the story is great. Its a great epic story, and thats not something thats easy to come by. I just dont remember it. Adrian is also part of the I LOVE LOTR club. He thought Two Towers was solid. Movie: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Elizabeth-digest version: Spoiler alert! Everything that you expect to happen happens. Panel reaction: Honestly, it was a pretty epic movie but HOLY COW ITS SUCH A LONG MOVIE! We were wiped by the end of it. It didnt help that there are about five or six instances where the movie couldve reasonably ended, but didnt. (Me: Oh, what a nice place to close the movie Peter Jackson: PSYCHHHHHH!) x6 On the bright side, Ive now viewed the LOTR trilogy. I have not ventured into any of the extended versions. Baby steps, folks. On the brighter side, I now finally appreciate and understand this meme: Movie: Inception Elizabeth-digest version: I cant Readers Digest this. My best attempt a team of people try to infiltrate into someones dreams to implant a seemingly self-originating idea into his mind. Panel reaction: Roy: Thought the use of the scores theme was well done. Adrian: I dont think his facial expression adequately conveys how he feels about this film. The kid saw it THREE times within the first 24 hours it had been released in theaters. This is his, Oooh, excellent! This is making me think! expression. Regarding the movies progression, The level of intensity versus time is like a step function that goes into an exponential function. BAM!!! Maita: Thought it was excellent. This was her third time seeing it, and she recommends seeing it more than once. Me: Wuuuuut in the worrrrrld the special effects blew my mind! Like Gattaca, I loved that it was an original script. It was an insanely creative premise. It kind of bothered me that Christopher Nolan left certain aspects unaddressed (like how Ellen Pages character is just like, Ope, you go into peoples dreams! Kinda weird but OKAY! Im in.), but I respect the decisions he made to leave certain things out but still maintain the world of the movie (and keep the movie under 2 hours. Nolan knows how to exercise restraint. Jackson could learn a thing or two about that.). I was super unsettled by the characters. There werent any particularly shocking or unpredicatble moments (no GASP!!!!! moments except for ones involving some insane special effects) for me, but I was curled up in the fetal position at times, peering through my hoodie, squealing annoyingly in anticipatory anxiety. There was so much hype about this movie, but I think the production team made something that they can really b e proud of. It did the same kind of thing for movie-making that I think the Matrix did. Movie: Now You See Me Elizabeth-digest version: Im pulling this straight from IMDB, because I cant say it any better: An FBI agent and an Interpol detective track a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. Panel reaction: This movie wasnt originally on the list, but my roommate (Sneha) got free advanced screening tickets to todays showing, so we mosied over to Boston Commons and saw it. I thought it was solid. It serves the same utility as the Oceans trilogy and The Italian Job theyre all heist movies, but theyre also really fun movies that arent entirely mindless. The epitome of entertainment. There are some seriously gaping holes in plot and character development, and Isla Fishers acting is truly horrendous. If you do not like Jesse Eisenberg, his presence will probably annoy you (I dont mind him, and I actually kind of liked his casting). But the movie features some pretty fun magic tricks and is funny enough. Sometimes I want to see a movie to be mentally challenged. Sometimes I want to see something beautiful. Sometimes I just want something playing in the background while I do laundry or while Im cooking. Now You See Me would not be an appropriate choice in any of those scenarios. But a plane r ide? Friday night with friends? See this movie! Go go go! (Also, Dave Franco is in this movie, so what are you waiting for?!) Sneha: Well played, sirs. She loved this movie. Im pretty sure this is her saying this moving is AAAAAAAAAAAAmazing! Stay tuned for more movie reviews! Were slowing making our way through the list. In the meantime, what are YOUR favorite movies? Anything we should add?

An Effort To End Racial Discrimination The Civil Rights Movement - 275 Words

An Effort To End Racial Discrimination: The Civil Rights Movement (Essay Sample) Content: Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date The Civil Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movement emerged in the United States from the 1950s to 1960s. This movement remains crucial to the history of the Afro-American. Until the Second World War, the people of color were oppressed and mistreated by their fellow countrymen of the white race. Economic and social inequalities were central issues that led to the Civil Rights Movement. During and after the WW2, black people occupied the bottom economic ladder. The WW2 saw many African Americans take arms to defend their country. However, on coming back from the war, their status did not change. People of color did not access good jobs, in spite of them having fought for their country. White people did not integrate them in the political arena because black was a symbol of inferiority. This oppression made civil rights leaders call for civil disobedience to bridge the inequality gap. According to Morris , Jim Crow laws also caused the rise of the Civil Rights Movement (518). These social laws segregated African Americans. People of color were not allowed access to social amenities such as schools, toilets, and hospitals meant for white people. They were also secluded in sharing public transport meant for white society. African Americans realized that it was a time to assert their rights through the Civil Rights Movement. The movement helped abolish segregation and racial laws. The impact of the movement is evident in current America. Barack Obama’s election as the first president of color was a significant leap in the fight for equality. Both white and black people alike voted for him. Today, African Americans have equal opportunity to vote and vie for political offices. Employment is also on merit instead of race. This has seen many black people occupy high offices. Moreover, white and black people are working together to address common challenges. The Unsupportive Lady Macbeth - 1060 Words

The Unsupportive Lady Macbeth Lady Macbeth is a very egocentric woman. She fails to have any concern over Macbeth’s interests, and she does not consider his decisions. This lack of care for her husband is shown many times throughout the play, and it is more predominantly shown in the first two acts. Lady Macbeth believes that Macbeth has the same viewpoints as her. Because of this, instead of asking if he wants to do something, she tells him what they are going to do. If Macbeth tries to protest against her thoughts or actions, she convinces him to believe in her and do as she says using a variety of tactics. Lady Macbeth does not have Macbeth’s best interest at heart because she manipulated him, she took matters into her own hand,†¦show more content†¦31-35). Macbeth revealed his thoughts and feelings about murdering Duncan to Lady Macbeth. He wanted to back out of the plan because he was already loved by the king and by others, so he does not want to spoil the feeling of being appreciated by so many. Even after this thorough explanation of why he did not want to proceed with the killing of Duncan, Lady Macbeth still made him do it, as she had her mind set on the king’s assassination. After the murder, Macbeth was traumatized by what he did, and he forgot to plant the daggers on the guards. Lady Macbeth told him to go back, but he did not as he is afraid to look back on what he has done. Lady Macbeth then grabs the daggers to plant it on the guards herself but mocks him before she leaves saying â€Å"’tis the eye of childhood that fears a painted devil† (II.ii. 57-58), which means she thinks he is a child. The constant mockery of Macbeth shows how Lady Macbeth does not care about Macbeth’s feelings. Lady Macbeth is a manipulative wife that does not consider anyone’s feelings and that likes to do things herself with no help from others. If Lady Macbeth had not deluded him into doing things he did not want to do, Macbeth would have been completely different. She convinced him to assassinate Duncan, which stained his mind and made him become a tyrant. This also led up to all the other murders hat Macbeth was responsible for. The Existence Of A Single Celled Organism - 1687 Words

Imagine if someone approached you and said that nothing in this world exists? Now, you can believe that this person is crazy, and that this individual has no right to say nonsense. An argument can be made that things do exist because we exist. We wake up, whether we want to or not, progress through the day, go to sleep, and repeat the process until our lives come to an end. Those who are religious argue God created man and everything around, and that what we distinguish now. Those who oppose the religious statement argue the idea of evolution and we all originate from a single celled organism. Each of these statements are limited for their justifications are supported by religion or science. Philosophically, both of these statements are†¦show more content†¦He discusses about how everything he perceives is based on his â€Å"sensor data†, or the information that obtained through the five senses (touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing). Although, he describes that the senses can also be deceived. For example, the initiation of an image when we experience mirages, or seeing hallucinations after taking meditation. Ideally, he argues that the simple 5 senses are not reliable as well. He then moves to the idea of God and religion, and that there is an evil deceiver or demon that is responsible for his deceived senses. He justifies that God is good, and there’s no way God would allow that to happen. In his second mediation, he explains the nature of the human mind and how it is better than the body. Descartes states that it’s impossible to doubt that God exists because it would mean the doubt your own existence. He then clarifies that he is a â€Å"thinking† thing, which then becomes his only valid statements as the previous statements were contradicting each other. In other words, I think, therefore I am. Descartes then approaches the physical aspects of beings, and talks about how wax, when cold, has all of its properties, and when it’s next to a fire becomes a puddle, but it’s still wax. He then takes that same idea and says that this could happen to the body as well. He comes to the conclusion that no matter what has occurred to the body, physically, it is still taking up space in the world. string(37) " because the society is not perfect\." As people are burdened with their social and economic situations, they tend to think that the government has no interest in responding to their legitimate complaints. Sooner or later, the only way to rectify their complaints is to revolt. The allegory Animal Farm, by George Owell is a great example of the rebellion between the animals and humans. We will write a custom essay sample on Animal Farm vs the Russian Revolution or any similar topic only for you Order Now The events in Animal Farm symbolize the Russian Revolution of the1900s to 1950s. Although many people were involved in the Russian Revolution, there were five instrumental men including Joseph Stalin, who was illustrated as Napoleon in Animal Farm. The Russian Revolution was one of the most important revolutions; it was a revolution against economic oppression. The Russian Revolution was all began by the idea of the historian and revolutionary, Karl Marx. He was the most influential political philosopher of the 19th century (â€Å"The History Guide†, par. 1). Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto, it was published in 1848 (â€Å"The History Guide†, par. 6). His idea of communism explained that each individual person would work to endorse the country and not just for self gain. Marx was the one that inspired Russian radicals who opposed tsarist rule (Strickler 61). Through out his life, people did not acknowledge his social, economic and political ideas  until his death in 1884(â€Å"The History Guide†, par. 1). The Russian history started badly after the death of Czar Alexander III in 1894. Nicholas II was then became the new czar. He was not prepared to rule; he was afraid of what’s going to happen to him and Russia (Strickler 70). Nicholas II was not attentive in sharing his power, but people were calling this to occur when he came in throne. Furthermore, he was physically weak, senseless, and he was a horrendous judge of people (â€Å"Background of†, par 5). During his first ten years of Nicholas II’s ruling; peasants protested their poverty, factory workers struck against the brutal working conditions, and people demanded a better government (Strickler 70). At the same time, Russia was in a war with Japan, for control over Korea and Manchuria in northern China. In February 1904, the Japanese defeated the Russians. By the end of 1904 people realized without a doubt, they were going to lose the war. After the defeats by Japan, things changed. â€Å"People could no long tolerate their desperate living conditions† (Strickler 71). In January 1905,  thousands of Russians marched in St. Petersburg to deliver a petition. â€Å"They called for an eight-hour workday and for an increase in wages† (Strickler 71). As the broad crowd assembled, the government startled. They sent thousands of troops around the city. On Sunday, January 22, 1905, the troops and the protesters met; their meeting soon became destructive. As result, thousands of people died in what became known as â€Å"Bloody Sunday†. Strikes continued to take place; it was all over the country. Workers were on strikes, railways were paralyzed, and universities were taken down (Strickler 71). In response to the protests; Nicholas agreed and published the â€Å"October Manifesto†. It granted freedom of conscience, speech, association, and promise people would not be imprison without trial (â€Å"Tsar Nicholas II†, par. 16). Nicholas II and his government avoided a revolution by creating a Duma. Even though the revolution was avoided, but people still drive for radical changes (â€Å"Russo-Japanese†, par. 4). In 1914, World War I broke out in Europe. The Russians was unprepared; they were lacked of leadership, food supplies, and weapons (Strickler 77). As more and more Russians got killed, supports for the war vanished. Things were getting worse; transportation system was tied up and there was not enough food for the population. As result price went high up (Strickler 78). By March 15, 1917 Czar Nicholas II faced widespread oppositions, revolts, and lacking military supports (Strickler 79). Therefore, Nicholas II was abdicated. After Nicholas II abdicated, Russia was ruled by a temporary government led by Aleksandr Kerensky (Strickler 80). Unfortunately, he was overthrown on November 7, 1917 by a political group called Bolsheviks (Strickler 79). The leader of the Bolsheviks was Vladimir Lenin. He followed Marx’s ideas of communism. Lenin quickly solved the problems facing Russia. Within only a year, the new government ended the World War I. Lands were returned to peasants and workers had the power to run their factories (Strickler 80). Later, the Bolsheviks became known as the Reds. Their rivals were the Whites, a variety of groups by their opposition to the Bolsheviks (Strickler 80). France, United States, and Great Britain were afraid of the spread of communism, so they supported the Whites. To help overthrow the Bolsheviks, Japan and United States sent troops to invade Russia from the east. In spite of these foreign troops, the Reds won the war (Strickler, 81). In 1922, Russia and their neighbors formed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, also known as the Soviet Union (Strickler, 81). After Lenin’s death in 1924, there was a power struggle between Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky. Stalin wanted to continue establishing the power of the Communist Party through out the country for the next twenty years. On the other hand, Trotsky wanted to build weapons to resist the West because they were trying to destroy Communism (â€Å"The Death of Lenin†, par. ). In august 1917, Trotsky was the member of the Central Committee of the Bolshevik, which had Lenin as a quixotic leader. Trotsky became second in command after Lenin (â€Å"Trotsky†, par1). He was assigned People’s Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs in 1918(â€Å"Trotsky†, par2). Trotsky also managed the founding of the Red Army (â€Å"Trotsky†, par1). Unfortunately, after the death of Lenin, Joseph Stalin prevailed and Trotsky was exiled to Mexico (Trueman, par5-6). Under the power of Stalin, â€Å"Workers had little real power to control their workplaces. The government did not allow for civil rights† (Strickler 81). Stalin continued his ruling until his death in 1953 (Strickler 82). Through out the Russian revolutions, Marx’s idea influenced many revolutionists to use his ideas of communism to lead a revolution that changed the history of Russia. The idea of communism did not work because the society is not perfect. You read "Animal Farm vs the Russian Revolution" in category "Papers" Everybody has his or her own way of living; they are different individuals. Joseph Stalin was one of the important roles in the Russian Revolution after the death of Lenin in 1924 (Strickler 81). Stalin was the second leader of the Soviet Union (â€Å"Joseph Stalin†, par1). His real name was Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili. When he was young he was already interested in politics (Gibson, 15). From that moment, he was associated with the political underground in the Caucasus. He soon followed Vladimir Lenin. Stalin’s experience made him useful in the Bolshevik party (â€Å"Joseph Stalin†, par3). After Lenin’s death, Stalin had a great opportunity to take his claim to become the leader of Communist Party. Stalin’s effort to bend the country to his conviction caused gargantuan suffering. Six million people die during the famine in the 1920s and 1930s. Many also died from hard labor. He also executed everyone that opposed him (Strickler 82). The ruling body of the Communist Party; Zinoviev and Kamenev joined force with Stalin against Trotsky (Gibson 26). In 1926, Trotsky was expelled from the Politburo, the ruling body of the communist Party. With Trotsky gone, he no longer need of Kamenev and Zinoviev. In order to get rid of them, he allied himself with Bukharin, Rykov, and Tomsky (Gibson, 26). Little by little, all of his opponents were dead and Stalin had the power over Russia. By 1930s eight million political opponents were arrested and eight hundred was executed (Strickler 82). In total, Stalin was responsible for the death of forty million people within the borders of the Soviet Union (â€Å"Joseph Stalin†, par. 7). In 1928, Stalin launched the first Five Year Plan; it was created to manufacture the USSR in the shortest time and, in the process, to precipitate the collectivization of farms (Gibson, 28). The plan was put in action brutally; it was aimed to make USSR self-sufficient. Stalin’s first Five Year Plan was completed by 1933. His second five year Plan (1933-1938) continued and expanded the first (Gibson 36). Stalin’s third Five year Plan was interrupted by the World War II. It was known as the bloodiest war in human history. Great Britain, France, and the United States joined Stalin to fight against Germany, Italy, and Japan. Through out the war, forty million people died. Of these, half were Soviet citizens (Strickler 82). Following World War II, Stalin continued his ruthless control over the Soviet Union until his death on March 5, 1953(â€Å"Joseph Stalin†, par. 7). Although he was a heartless ruler, he did bring consequential economic progress to Russia during the 1920s and1930s. During those years, the Soviet Union was becoming a powerful, industrialize country. The education, health, and equality for women were much better (Strickler 82). Stalin did a lot to help Russia but murdered millions and millions in pursuit of his dictatorship. â€Å"To his calloused heart, a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic† (Nosoro 10). The pig – Napoleon in Animal Farm is a reflection of Joseph Stalin. In the book, Owell described Napoleon as a tyrant. Napoleon enjoyed his luxury life with the other pigs by abusing the power that he’s given to hypnotize the animals; he made them do all the works. The animals worked relentlessly  on his windmill plan and they hardly get any food. While Napoleon stayed in his farm house and enjoying all the apples and milk alone (Owell 73, 85). Just like Napoleon, Stalin had all the power to himself and living in a blissful live while the peasants suffered. Many people endured the bad working conditions and famine during Stalin’s Five Year Plan (Gibson 53). Both Napoleon and Stalin got their way often. After Lenin’s death, Stalin successfully exiled Trotsky to Mexico and had the power of Russia in his hand. Similarly, Napoleon managed to get Snowball out of farm and he became the leader of Animal Farm (Orwell 68). Even after when Snowball was off the farm; Napoleon continued to blame on him when things on the farm went wrong. He blamed on Snowball when the wind knocked down the windmill that they built (Orwell 82). In Stalin’s situation, he evoked Trotsky as a threat after he murdered him (Gibson, 30). Although Napoleon and Stalin were clever, both were lousy speakers. Since Napoleon was not a good speaker, he used Squealer as his mouthpiece. Squealer is a good mouth pig. He knows how to twist and change things around and makes it sound good. â€Å"â€Å"I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra labor upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is pleasure! On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility†, said Squealer† (Orwell 69). The purpose of it was to make Napoleon look good. Indeed, like Napoleon, Stalin also has his own resource. His resource was the propagandas; it’s documentaries and films that made him look like a hero and a father to the country. Although Owell described Napoleon based on Stalin, but there are a few differences between them. Before Stalin becomes the dictator of Russia, he took many steps to get there. He allied with the Politburo (the ruling body Communist) to get rid of one and another (Gibson 23, 26). Unlike Napoleon; whose became the leader of the Animal Farm right after he ran Snowball off the farm. In the Russian Revolution History, Stalin exiled Trotsky and murdered him because he was afraid that he might come back and overthrown him (Gibson 23). It was never mentioned in the allegory that Stalin killed Snowball. Throughout the Russian Revolution and Animal Farm, both Napoleon and Stalin weren’t able to achieve the goal of communism or equality. George Orwell created Napoleon under Stalin’s image, despite that fact that everyone is not exactly the same. George Orwell wrote Animal Farm, simply to explain the connection between the live of the animals on the farm and the Russian Revolution. The allegory mainly target Joseph Stalin. Through out the Russian revolution, Stalin tried to make Russia a better country, but failed. He abolished the idea of communism and ruled his country as a tyrant. If Stalin didn’t kill Trotsky, Trotsky might’ve been the leader of Russia. With Trotsky’s warm heart and intelligent Russia would’ve been better. Stalin may look good on the outside, but he truly is hypocrite. Works Cited â€Å"Background of the Russian Revolution. † Saskschools. ca. Lascaux cave paintings free essay sample

On September 12, 1940 in Dordogne, France, four men named Marcel Ravidat, Jacques Marsal, Simon Coencas, and Georges Agniel, came upon a long forgotten cave- Lascaux. The Lascaux cave, now a World Heritage site, has been called the Lascaux bestiary. A revolution occurred in the creation of art during the Upper Paleolithic Era in Europe. Beginning around 40,000 B. C. , records shows that modern humans replaced Neanderthals and remained the only hominid inhabitants across Europe. At about the same time the earliest art was created. These creative achievements fall into one out of two categories. Paintings and engravings found in caves along walls and ceilings are parietal art. The caves where paintings have been found are most likely to not have served as shelter, but instead were for ceremonial or religious purposes. The second category, mobiliary art, includes sculpted objects which are typically found buried at habitation sites. The painted walls of the caves in Lascaux are some of the most impressive and well-known artistic creations of Paleolithic humans. They are both animals that would have been hunted and eaten as well as those that were feared predators (such as lions, bears, and wolves). No vegetation or painting of the environment is shown around the animals. These pictures are accompanied by signs and some human representations, such as a man facing a charging bison, raising new questions about our prehistoric ancestors.

Agamemnons Clytemnestra Essays (1169 words) - Clytemnestra, Mycenae

Agamemnon's Clytemnestra In Aeschylus' tragedy Agamemnon the character of Clytemnestra is portrayed as strong willed woman. This characteristic is not necessarily typical of women of her time. As a result, the reader must take a deeper look into the understanding of Clytemnestra. In Agamemnon she dominates the action. Her most important characteristic is like the watchman calls it, "male strength of heart." She is a strong woman, and her strength is evident on many occasions is the play. Later in the play after Clytemnestra murders her husband, Agamemnon, and his concubine, Cassandra, she reveals her driving force and was has spurned all of her actions until this point. Clytemnestra is seen by the Elders of Argos (the Chorus) as untrustworthy and although suspicious of her they still could not foresee the impending murders. Her words are plain but her meaning hidden to all those around her. She more or less alludes to her plan of murder without fear of being detected. Only the audience can seem to understand the double meaning in her words. One example of how Clytemnestra hides meanings in otherwise plain words is stated in her hope that Agamemnon and his soldiers do not commit any sacrilege in Troy that might offend the gods. Now must they pay due respect to the gods that inhabit the town, the gods of the conquered land, or their victory may end in their own destruction after all. Too soon for their safety, the soldiery, seized with greed, may yield to their covetousness and lay hands on forbidden spoil. They have still to bring themselves home, have still the backward arm of the double course to make. And if no sin against heaven rest on the returning host, there is the wrong of the dead that watches. Evil may find accomplishment, although it fall not at once. This can be interpreted in two ways. The first being that her wish for Agamemnon to return safely is so she may kill him herself. The second, is that of sarcasm. Perhaps she really does wish for Agamemnon to upset the gods. That way when she murders him she will divine sanction. Another instance that there is a double meaning in her words is in her pleadings to the herald to take this message back to Agamemnon, "let him come with speed to the people that love him, come to find in his home the wife faithful, even such as he left her, a very house-dog, loyal to one and an enemy to his foes..." The audience knows this to be untrue because not only has she not been faithful, but the person she was unfaithful with is the rival to Agamemnon's crown, his cousin Aegisthus. The Chorus' distrust in her is shown by their comment to the herald in which they are trying to explain her boastful and yet sarcastic attitude, "She speaks thus to teach you; to those who clearly can discern, her words are hypocrisy." Time and again in the play her strength is demonstrated when she forces Agamemnon, Aegisthus, and the Elders of Argos to bend to her will. For example, she influences the Elders to sacrifice to the gods for Agamemnon's safe return and temporarily wins their trust and support. In fact they sing her praises for suggesting it by saying, "Lady, no man could speak more kindly wisdom than you. For my part, after the sure proof heard from you, my purpose is now to give our thanks to the gods, who have wrought a return in full for all the pains." Her shrewdness is also shown by the way she coaxes her husband into submission. She wants him to walk on rich purple tapestries in hopes that this would anger the gods and they will aid her in his murder. She does so by challenging his manhood like in the statement, "Then let not blame of men make you ashamed." In which she is basically calling him a "chicken". He gives in and takes off his sandals and walks on the tapestries even though he fears it may not please the gods. She single-handedly plots the murder of Agamemnon and Cassandra. When she is successful in taking away their lives she professes it loudly, " For me, I have had long enough to prepare this wrestle for victory, though it has come at last. I stand where I struck, over the finished work." According to Clytemnestra, she believes she is doing right, "an offering of thanks to the nether god, to Hades, safe keeper
